My dog is in a heap of trouble.

Okay for those of you who don't know I have a Great Dane named Sadie who is about 130 pounds. The other morning I let her and my other dog out to do their morning thing as usual. After they come into the screened in porch Sadie notices something out in the yard and darts towards the door for the screened in porch and before I can open it she literally rips the damn things hinges right out of the frame.

I have to get the frame repaired, or replace the section at least because it's now bent and I have to get new hinges since they're also trashed.

After this happened she knew she did something bad, turned around lowered her head and looked up at me with her puppy dog eyes.

I wasn't as mad as I was stunned, I knew she was gonna be strong but I didn't know she was going to be incredible hulk strong.

Sounds to me like you are in a heap of trouble.

How do you correct a dog that big, pepper spray?

Just kidding. Please don't sick the dog on me.

Bob

Bob your pepper spray comment made me laugh for nearly 15 minutes, that was the most clever comment about my Dane yet.

She's actually very gentle, although the puppy comes out of her still.

I don't think I've ever met one of those. But I've heard they are indeed huge.

Well Sadie's dad was 200 pounds and her mom was 140 pounds.

Great Danes are one of the tallest breeds, and freaking strong as hell, I'm just glad she doesn't pull me on the leash or I would have sidewalk rash. lol

I've always wanted to meet a Great Dane, but I have a feeling that given my stature he'd probably knock me over LOL.

I've seen a Great Dane at a dog park before. I'm really short so standing next to a Great Dane for me is like standing next to a pony. LOL He was a good dog though.

I wonder what kind of fur they have. I seem to remember they're not particularly longhaired but I've heard it can be pretty thick.

Danes are short haired dogs, I would say medium thickness.

Cool. Wasn't Shaggy from Scooby Doo a Great Dane?

LOL Scooby-Doo was the Great Dane. Another Great Dane was Marmaduke.

Ah. I always figured Scooby was more of a Beagle or something. He never struck me as all that big LOL.

Snoopy is the Beagle. Scooby is the Dane.

I knew Snoopy was a Beagle. I just was never sure wha Scooby was. Thanks for clearing that up LOL.

I've had Great Danes for most of my life. My mom rescued them from time to time, you see. They're big, long, tall dogs...not particularly deep in the chest or broad in the hip, but they're fast and strong when they want to be.
As for hair type...they're definitely short-haired and their shedding isn't much to worry about. I don't really think of their hair as "thick"...it's not at all bushy, not the sort of thing you could grab fistfuls of even if you wanted to...they have a fairly sleek feeling to them.
